Cleaning wood

Cleaning wood
In watchmaking, a clockwork is a pointed round of chiefs made of boxwood or spindle shrub, which is still used to clean bearings, oil cuts and drives.
In the case of a cleaning process of a mechanical large clock, all bearings together with the oil cuts, in which incrustations are easy to get, must be cleaned. For this purpose, a piece of cleaning wood is pointed using a sharp knife, inserted into the hole, turned in it and pulled out. This process is repeated until the wood gets out completely clean.
